When to Book Senior Pictures In Utah

Best Time to Take Senior Pictures in Utah

By Angie Blackburn Photography

So… when should you book your senior pics? Short answer: 3–6 months in advance. Long answer: keep reading because timing = everything if you want your dream date, perfect outfits, and peak vibes.

If you’re searching for senior pictures in Sevier County, Richifield, Manti, Cedar City or anywhere else in Utah, this guide will help you choose the perfect season and lock in the best date.

Booking early means:

  • You get first dibs on prime dates
  • Way less stress (for you and your parents)
  • More time to plan outfits, hair, makeup, and locations
  • Better weather odds

☀️ Summer Senior Pictures (June–August)

The Vibe: Bold, fun, main‑character energy

Pros:

  • Long days = more golden hour options
  • Green trees, blue skies, vibrant colors
  • Great for casual, sporty, or summer looks
  • Summer Flowers

Cons:

  • Heat + humidity = no fun
  • Midday sun can be harsh
  • You might sweat through your cute outfit and no one wants that

Best for: Flowy dresses, tanks, tees, sneakers, sunglasses, sunkissed glow

🍂 Fall Senior Pictures (September–November)

The Vibe: Cozy vibes, Jewel colors

Pros:

  • Fall colors in Utah = alwasy beautiful
  • Cooler temps = comfy posing
  • Sweaters, boots, layers = YES

Cons:

  • Peak season → books out the fastest
  • Weather can flip overnight
  • Leaves don’t stay perfect forever and can be hard to determine when peak colors will show and how vibrant they will be

Best for: Sweaters, flannels, boots, jackets, neutral tones, cozy vibes

❄️ Winter Senior Pictures (December–February)

The Vibe: Editorial, clean, underrated

Pros:

  • Super unique look
  • Fewer bookings → more date flexibility
  • Snow photos = lowkey magical

Cons:

  • Cold. Like… really cold.
  • Limited outdoor time
  • Outfit options are bulkier

Best for: Coats, scarves, boots, glam indoor studio looks

🌸 Spring Senior Pictures (March–May)

The Vibe: Fresh, glowy, soft aesthetic

Pros:

  • Flowers blooming
  • Temps are comfy, not sweaty
  • Soft golden light = chef’s kiss ✨

Cons:

  • Utah weather can be moody (rain + wind = not the move)
  • Doesnt actually green up in Utah until the end of April
  • Gets close to graduation and may be a little rushed to get images back

Best for: Light dresses, denim jackets, floral fits, soft glam looks

So… When Should You Book Senior Pictures?

3–6 months ahead is the sweet spot.

That gives you:

  • Your ideal season
  • Your perfect session date
  • Time to plan outfits + glam
  • A stress‑free experience

Fall seniors especially — don’t wait. Those dates disappear fast.
